PSEF PROJECT UPDATES
PSC Race Training Venue Improvements: Through PSEF fundraising efforts, several PSC Training Venue Improvement Projects have been initiated. Working closely with Killington Resort and the Belden Company, Kevin Creed and PSC Race Director Lori McClallen have recently completed two substantial training venue improvements this Fall.
**B-Slope: Skiers’ left between Alpine Slide and the High School Start has been modified. The tree line has been re-established to its original lines and some of the ledge has been demolished to provide a more uniform surface. This improvement will help the area hold snow better and provide much more versatile race course “set” opportunities through the middle section of B-Slope. This Project has also improved the left hand turn to the Summit Quad from the top of B-Slope.
**Panhandler: Because Panhandler is a great venue for Club Race events and offers valuable training opportunities (especially for our younger athletes) several needed improvements have been made. The tree line at the trail entrance to the Skiers’ right has been re-established and an earthen start and staging area has been created. These upgrades are designed to provide an improved Start experience for both training and racing.
These upgrades will surely make a significant difference in the experience of the Pico Ski Club Racing Program athletes and coaches this season. Stay tuned this season as PSEF and Pico Ski Club Leadership continue their efforts with additional Trail Improvement Projects, all made possible by PSEF fundraising efforts.
