Over 3 Million Dollars Invested To-Date Through Combined Effort by Pico Ski Education Foundation; Killington Resort; Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports; and Killington World Cup Foundation
Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in Eastern North America and a POWDR company, announced a matching donation of $100,000, to Pico Ski Education Foundation (PSEF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining an affordable organized ski racing program for local families and athletes. The gift is part of Killington Resort’s Play Forever commitment to protect the environment and enable participation, in that the funds will help provide access to ski racing for local youth and support operations of the race program.
“We’re proud of Killington’s support of the local community over the years and are excited about the opportunity to grow Pico’s Junior Race Program,” says Mike Solimano, president and general manager of Killington Resort. “We feel fortunate to be able to assist and accelerate the efforts Pico Ski Education Foundation is already taking and want to do what we can to support the next generation.”
Through continued fundraising, PSEF plans to raise $325,000 over the next two years to reach their goal of doubling the size of the Race Training Venue by 2022.
Each season, Killington Resort donates generously to a diverse group of local charitable organizations, with a combination of cash and in-kind charitable contributions totaling an average of $150,000 per year. Recent organizations Killington Resort has supported include Mentor Connection, Boys & Girls Club, Toys for Tots, BROC, American Red Cross, REDC, and RAVNA to name a few and as part of its Play Forever commitment to protect the environment and enable participation, Killington Mountain School, Vermont Adaptive, Girls on the Run, Castleton Resort School, POW and High Fives Foundation.
