PSEF continues its efforts to revitalize and modernize the ski racing and training venues at Pico Mountain. We have been working with Killington Resort’s planning and permitting staff since the snow melted last spring.
On Friday, August 30, the Act 250 Permit was issued for the A-Slope trail and tree work and on Tuesday, September 3, Belden Company mobilized a crew to begin the work.
This project is intended to revitalize A-Slope to accommodate ski racing and training activities on this historic trail, once a busy training venue for the U12, U10, and U8 age groups.
The 2019 improvements to A-Slope will almost double its present width back to its historic tree lines, re-establish water bars and erosion control, and re-surface the trail to improve its ability to hold snow from snowmaking.
The trail improvement budget for this fall is $30,000 to 40,000 which PSEF already has in hand including $15,000 received from a grant from the Killington World Cup Foundation (www.kwcfgivesback.org) last May.
Our campaign to raise approximately $200,000 to re-establish snowmaking on A-Slope will be at the center of PSEF’s efforts over the next few years.
Killington Resort has already invested in brand new snowmaking on B-Slope which will surely improve the Pico Ski Club’s primary training and racing venue this coming season. The Resort also remains fully committed to securing the permits to establish a sustainable water supply to Pico as early as this 2019-2020 season.
Thank you all for your continued support of PSEF in its efforts to revitalize Pico’s ski racing venues for this and future generations of Pico families. Your support is making a magnificent impact on our Program.
